Color: Sazerac Rye is bright amber; Buffalo Trace deep amber; Eagle Rare copper.

Nose: Sazerac: anise, mint and caramel. Buffalo Trace: brown sugar, toffee and vanilla. Eagle Rare: toffee, orange peel, honey and oak.

Palate: A rye and two bourbons from one distillery. Sazerac is soft and spicy; Buffalo Trace is the sweet, oak-forward classic; Eagle Rare 10 is the same low-rye recipe with four more years, drier and more polished.

Finish: Minty on Sazerac, medium and sweet on Buffalo Trace, long and oaky on Eagle Rare.
