Yamazaki 12 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whiskey
Yamazaki 12 Year Single Malt is the flagship age-statement expression from the Yamazaki distillery, Japan's first commercial whisky distillery, opened in 1923 by Suntory founder Shinjiro Torii in the Vale of Yamazaki outside Kyoto. Aged for twelve years in a combination of American, Spanish, and Japanese Mizunara oak, this whisky is widely credited with introducing the world to the depth and subtlety of Japanese single malt—and remains one of the category's most sought-after bottles.
The nose is complex and distinctive: ripe peach, dried persimmon, soft vanilla, coconut, and a signature Mizunara note of sandalwood and incense that no other oak in the world delivers. The palate is silky and layered—honeyed stone fruit, custard, toasted almond, gentle spice, and a whisper of sweet cedar from the Mizunara. The finish is long, warm, and gracefully evolving, with returning fruit and a lingering wisp of temple-wood.
Serve Yamazaki 12 neat in a Glencairn or over a single large ice cube. A landmark bottle for any Japanese whisky collection and an exceptional gift for whisky enthusiasts.
