The Yamato Ox Edition arrives from Aiko Importers' Yamato line as a Year-of-the-Ox zodiac release, presented in a hand-finished ceramic ox figurine with a calf-shaped stopper. It is bottled exclusively in a 1.75 liter decanter, the only size in which this Yamato expression is offered, making the piece as much a display object as a pour.

Inside is a blend of 3 to 8 year old whisky from Yamanashi Prefecture, finished in Mizunara oak and left non-chill-filtered. Expect an amber pour with a bourbon-like nose of toasted honeycomb, toffee, and a distinct thread of licorice. The palate is rich with plump barley-oak sweetness, light anise and molasses, layered with vanilla, nougat, and hazelnut, finishing round and soft with lingering oak, toffee, and a dry mid-palate turn.
