World Whiskey Society Japanese Single Malt Whisky Finished in Bourbon and Port Ruby Casks by Chip Tate
This Japanese single malt is a collaboration between World Whiskey Society and Chip Tate, founder of Balcones and now Master Distiller for Innovation at Foley Family Wines. Distilled at Nirasaki Distillery, a former sake brewery, from 100% Australian malted barley, the whisky spends roughly three years in third-fill bourbon barrels before a double finish in bourbon and Ruby Port casks. It is part of the Classic Collection and was released as a limited edition.
The whisky pours a faint gold and opens with wine-soaked ripe pear, crème brûlée, golden raisin, and baking spices layered over a rich umami character. On the palate it is elegantly malty, with the bourbon and Ruby Port finish adding depth without overwhelming the spirit's core identity. The finish is long and dry, lingering with dark brown bread and salted caramel.
The Zamak samurai-helmet stopper and limited run make this a natural addition to a Japanese whisky collection, and it pairs well alongside other World Whiskey Society Classic Collection releases available at Gifted Pour. Ships to most US states. Adult-signature required at delivery.
