Hatozaki Omakase Collection Small Batch Mizunara Cask Finish 15 Year
Hatozaki takes its name from Japan's oldest stone lighthouse, which stands near the Kaikyo Distillery in Akashi, in the Kansai region of Japan. The Omakase Collection is the distillery's series of small batch releases finished in distinctive casks, and this 15 year expression rests in rare Japanese Mizunara oak — a notoriously difficult wood to cooper, prized for the sandalwood and incense character it lends to whisky.
The Mizunara influence shows immediately: sandalwood, soft temple incense, and toasted coconut wrap around a core of honey, orchard fruit, and vanilla. The palate builds through dried apricot and gentle oak spice before a long, aromatic finish where cinnamon and sandalwood slowly fade.
Mizunara-finished releases with an age statement are a scarce find in Japanese whisky, making this a natural centerpiece for a collection or a memorable gift for anyone exploring the category. It sits well alongside the other Japanese whiskies in the Gifted Pour selection. Ships to most US states. Adult-signature required at delivery.
