Gusbourne Brut 51°N England 2016
Gusbourne's flagship 51°N 2016, England's acclaimed prestige sparkling wine. Wine Enthusiast scored it 98 points and named it the #2 wine of the year.
Fifty One Degrees North takes its name from the latitude of Gusbourne's vineyards in Kent and Sussex, and it is made only in exceptional years. The 2016 is 67% Chardonnay and 33% Pinot Noir, whole-bunch pressed, with 21% of the base wine fermented in old oak barrels for texture, and it then spent at least 67 months on its lees. The season was close to ideal: a mild spring, successful flowering in late June and warm, dry weather, with ripe, balanced fruit picked from October 2. Chief winemaker Charlie Holland calls 2016 the best of both worlds, ripe yet carried by a great line of acidity. Wine Enthusiast's Christina Pickard (98 points) writes that "England's most premium sparkler is all it's cracked up to be," and the magazine ranked it No. 2 in its Top 100 Wines of 2025. Gusbourne says it is rewarding now and will age beautifully for years to come. 12% ABV, 750ml.
