Código 1530 built its name on doing things the old way, following a private family recipe from Amatitán, Jalisco — "Los Códigos," the unwritten rules of traditional tequila-making passed down for generations. This Extra Añejo carries a fifteen-year age statement, an extraordinary length of time for tequila to rest in oak and one that places it firmly among the rarest long-aged releases in the category.

Fifteen years in barrel takes cooked agave somewhere few tequilas ever go. The agave core is still there, but it has folded into layers of dark chocolate, dried fig, toffee, and old oak, with leather and sweet tobacco rounding out a depth closer to a vintage cognac than a typical extra añejo. It drinks slowly and deliberately, revealing more with every pass.

Bottles at this level rarely surface, and when they do they tend to disappear into private collections — this is a centerpiece acquisition, a milestone gift, or the crown of a serious tequila shelf.
