Shenk’s Homestead Sour Mash Whiskey
Shenk’s Homestead Sour Mash Whiskey is a tribute to the historic legacy of John Shenk, who founded a distillery in 1753 that would later become known as Michter’s. This 2024 release is a meticulously crafted small-batch whiskey, made in Kentucky using the traditional Sour Mash process, where a portion of the previous batch is incorporated into the new one. The whiskey is composed of a substantial amount of rye and includes unique grains like malted rye and caramel malt. Aged in specially toasted French oak barrels sourced from the Vosges region of France, this whiskey boasts a rich, complex profile at 91.2 proof.
