The 2017 Littlemill 27 Year Private Release is a rare and emotional tribute to Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery, capturing the delicate elegance and refined character that defined Littlemill’s historic style. For this limited release, Master Blender Michael Henry selected eight exceptional casks distilled in May 1990, choosing those that best expressed the hallmark Littlemill profile—light, floral, sophisticated, and beautifully layered.

Originally matured in refill bourbon barrels to preserve a soft wood influence and retain the spirit’s purity, the whisky was later “married” in fresh bourbon casks for twelve months to gently amplify sweetness, structure, and depth. Bottled after 27 years of maturation, this release stands as a graceful reminder of a lost distillery, offering collectors and enthusiasts a final, poetic glimpse into Littlemill’s soul.

Appearance: Brilliant antique gold with radiant highlights and slow, elegant legs.

Nose: Delicate yet expressive, opening with soft orchard fruits—pear, green apple, and white peach—interwoven with floral tones of meadow blossom, honeysuckle, and gentle citrus zest. Subtle vanilla cream, honeycomb, and light oak-polish emerge, followed by whispers of fresh malt, almond, and a faint herbal lift. Air reveals hints of coconut, toasted grain, and elegant bourbon sweetness.

Palate: Silky, refined, and impeccably balanced. Lively fruit leads the way with ripe apple, apricot, lemon curd, and sweet peach nectar, supported by layers of vanilla custard, light caramel, and crème brûlée warmth. The refill oak influence lends restraint and nuance—notes of soft spice, white chocolate, and gently toasted wood—while the long maturation contributes maturity without heaviness. The texture is graceful, coating, and luxurious, yet still bright and weightless in true Littlemill fashion.
