Laphroaig The Cask Lore is the Islay single malt that Laphroaig previously bottled as Lore, now presented in the distillery's Cask Collection. It is a blend of whiskies aged from seven to 21 years in ex-bourbon barrels, European oak and Oloroso sherry casks, along with quarter casks, and is bottled at 48% ABV (96 proof).

In the glass, intense peat smoke and sea salt meet dark chocolate, vanilla and toffee. The palate is rich and creamy, with sweet vanilla and roasted oak giving way to waves of peat, black pepper, clove and notes of dried apricot and stewed berries. The finish is very long and smoky-sweet.

A good pick for peat fans who want to see how different cask types shape Laphroaig. Enjoy it neat, with a few drops of water, or in a smoky Old Fashioned.

Appearance: Deep gold with amber hues.

Nose: Intense peat smoke with pronounced maritime notes of sea salt and seaweed. Dark chocolate and creamy vanilla emerge, balanced by soft toffee and hints of roasted coffee beans. Subtle traces of damp ash add depth.

Palate: Rich and layered with a creamy texture. The sweet vanilla and roasted oak notes lead the way, followed by waves of robust peat smoke. As the whisky develops, warming spices like black pepper and clove mingle with underlying fruity notes of dried apricot and stewed berries.

Finish: Exceptionally long and satisfying. The smoky-sweet character lingers, with traces of bonfire ash and a gentle sweetness reminiscent of caramelized sugar.
