Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard Napa Valley 2019
Heitz Cellar Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, one of Napa's most historic single-vineyard wines. 94 points, Wine Spectator.
Martha's Vineyard sits on the alluvial fan of western Oakville in the shadow of the Mayacamas Mountains, and since the 1966 vintage Heitz has bottled it on its own, the first single-vineyard designated wine in Napa Valley. The 2019 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the site's own Martha's clone, known for small, deeply colored berries and its signature mint. It spent a year in neutral oak tanks, about three years in new French Limousin oak and another year in bottle before release. Wine Advocate's Joe Czerwinski (98 points) calls it "one of the best vintages I can remember tasting," and Antonio Galloni (97 points) calls the 2019 an archetype of Napa Valley classicism with modern purity of red fruit. Wine Spectator (94 points) praises its mint, cassis, plum coulis and iris and suggests drinking it from 2026 through 2040. 13.5% ABV, 750ml.
