El Viejito Añejo Tequila
El Viejito Añejo Tequila is produced at NOM 1107 by Tequila El Viejito, a family distillery founded in 1937 in Atotonilco, in the Jalisco Highlands. Blue agave grown in the highland climate — where cooler temperatures and mineral-rich volcanic soils shape the character of the plant — is harvested locally before arriving at the distillery. The añejo designation places this expression in oak for a minimum of one year, developing color and complexity beyond the reposado tier.
The nose opens with roasted agave, cracked pepper, and a bright lift of citrus. On the palate, oak and vanilla move into caramel sweetness, with the agave's earthy backbone threading through the mid-palate and a velvety texture holding the profile together. The finish is warm and persistent, trailing off with gentle wood spice.
A Jalisco Highlands añejo with developed barrel character suits a gift set or a side-by-side tasting with other agave expressions — Gifted Pour carries a range of añejo and extra añejo tequilas for comparison. Ships to most US states. Adult-signature required at delivery.
