The Buffalo Trace 2025 Prohibition Collection resurrects five legendary labels once bottled during or around Prohibition, now reimagined in this exclusive 5 x 375mL limited edition set. From bonded bourbons to barrel-proof rye and corn whiskey, each expression honors the resilience and craft of an era when whiskey found ways to survive—even through medicinal licensing.

Hand-selected from Buffalo Trace’s historic archives and carefully reconstructed, this collector's set delivers not only remarkable flavor diversity but also rich storytelling. Housed in a beautifully designed wooden case, it's a tribute to the ingenuity of American whiskey makers during one of the most challenging times in spirits history.

Tasting Notes

1. Mirror Brook – Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon (100 Proof)

First referenced in a 1932 letter by Albert Blanton, used to rebrand aged O.F.C. stock with modern labeling.

Bright cherry on the nose, followed by layers of toasted oak and subtle rye spice.

2. V.O.P. (Very Oldest Procurable) – Barrel-Proof Bourbon (Uncut, Unfiltered)

Registered by Blanton in 1932 for medicinal bottling, though not originally owned by the distillery.

Bold rye spice upfront, with developing flavors of toasted oak, vanilla, and rich cherry on the mid-palate.

3. Anderson’s Belle – Bottled-in-Bond Wheated Bourbon (100 Proof)

A tribute to a mystery woman; packaging hints at Scottish influence via tartan-style design.

Aromas of caramel and maple lead to a palate rich with vanilla, soft charred oak, and mellow sweetness.

4. Old Fashioned Mountain Corn – Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey (110 Proof)

Fully owned and produced during Prohibition; known for its “Heart of the Bluegrass” branding.

Sweet corn essence dominates, supported by toasted oak and a smooth caramel backdrop.

5. Silver Wedding – Barrel-Proof Rye Whiskey (125 Proof)

Originally produced in Midway, KY; part of a duo with Golden Wedding, referencing anniversaries.

Notes of vanilla and toffee meet earthy leather, toasted oak, and an assertive rye spice finish.

Recognition & Prestige

139 Awards. Zero Shortcuts. The World's Verdict Is In.

The most awarded distillery on earth — not for a season, but for over two consecutive decades

Any distillery can win an award. Winning 139 of them — across two decades, across every major spirits competition on earth, with the world's most demanding critics reviewing the same flagship expression year after year and arriving at the same conclusion — is something categorically different. That is not a run of good luck. That is the documented record of a distillery that has never once decided that good enough was good enough.

Buffalo Trace has earned gold medals, double gold medals and best-in-class distinctions at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It has been honoured by the International Wine & Spirits Competition, the Global Whiskey Challenge and the TAG Global Spirits Awards. Wine Enthusiast praised its finish as "long and lush." Jim Murray's Whisky Bible called it one of the greatest whiskies in the world. And the distillery itself — the buildings, the rickhouses, the ancient ground it all sits on — has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the United States government. Not a great bourbon distillery. A national landmark.

Origin & History

Est. 1773 · Frankfort, Kentucky

Born on the Trace. Built for the Ages.

How an ancient buffalo path became the birthplace of America's greatest bourbon

Before America had a name, buffalo carved trails through the Kentucky wilderness. Pioneers followed. Settlers arrived. And on one particular bend of the Kentucky River in 1773, someone started making whiskey. That site has never stopped. Through floods, fires, tornadoes and Prohibition — one of only six distilleries permitted to keep producing — Buffalo Trace has distilled without compromise for over 250 years.

That continuity is not coincidence. It is character — built into the limestone, the water and the people who have chosen, generation after generation, to keep doing this the right way. The name on the label is not a marketing invention. The buffalo trace is a real path through real Kentucky earth, and it runs directly through the distillery site. Every bottle carries that ground with it.

Craft & Philosophy

The making of a legend
Honor Tradition. Never Compromise.

Two and a half centuries of getting every single detail exactly right

Limestone-filtered Kentucky River water. A corn-forward grain recipe refined across generations. New charred American white oak barrels. Century-old rickhouses where Kentucky's brutal seasons do what no distiller's hand can replicate. And time — given without limit, until the Master Distiller decides the barrel has reached its absolute peak. Not a season early. Never a day late. This is how 139 awards get made.

What makes Buffalo Trace remarkable is not that it follows this process — it is that it has never been tempted to shortcut it. The distillery runs more active bourbon experiments than any other on earth, constantly asking whether something could be done better. And yet the flagship expression has tasted the same kind of extraordinary for over two centuries. That is the paradox only true mastery can hold: always questioning, never wavering.

A Gift Worth Giving

For every occasion that matters

Some Bottles Are Bought. This One Is Remembered.

The bourbon that turns a moment into a milestone

A promotion. A retirement. A friendship worth marking. Whatever the occasion, Buffalo Trace arrives with something most gifts cannot offer — 250 years of American craftsmanship, 139 international awards, and a story so deeply woven into this country that handing someone a bottle feels like giving them a piece of something that has always mattered. You are not giving a drink. You are giving a landmark.

It works for the bourbon lover who already knows the name — because Buffalo Trace is the bottle serious drinkers always return to, the benchmark everything else gets measured against. It works for the person just beginning their whiskey journey — because its depth and approachability make it the finest possible first encounter with great American bourbon. And it works for every occasion in between, because the name on that label speaks before you say a single word.

The right gift does not just mark an occasion. It becomes part of how that occasion is remembered. Whether it is Passover, a milestone, a thank-you, a promotion, or simply the desire to give something that no one else thought to bring — this bottle arrives not as a drink, but as a decision. A considered one. A memorable one.
