Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014 Aged 8 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whiskey
Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014 is a celebration of provenance, place, and patience. Distilled in 2014 from 100% Islay-grown barley (Concerto and Propino varieties) and aged for eight years, this unpeated single malt captures the essence of its island home. Every grain was cultivated on eight local farms—Coull, Rockside, Island, Mulindry, Cruach, Dunlossit, Craigens, and Sunderland—all within an 11-mile radius of the distillery, ensuring complete traceability from farm to glass.
Matured predominantly in first-fill bourbon casks (80%), with additional influence from second-fill sherry butts (5%) and second-fill wine casks (15%), the oak enhances rather than masks the cereal-forward character of the spirit. Bottled at 50% ABV, this single vintage expression showcases the depth, natural oils, and complexity that define Bruichladdich’s Islay barley style.
The result is a whisky of pale gold hue, offering delicate elderflower and honeyed sweetness balanced by gentle pepper and ginger spice, ripe orchard fruits, and a subtle maritime whisper—an authentic reflection of Islay’s soil, climate, and coastal air.
